According to Bilotaitė, civil defense is more relevant today than ever. She also recalled the war in Ukraine, which is still ongoing, and added that the Baltic states are subject to hybrid and disinformation attacks, and sabotage — this is our new reality.

— It is important to note that we are at the forefront, so today civil protection has become a priority on our agenda, — Bilotaite said.

She also stressed that Lithuania's actions alone are not enough to strengthen civil protection, so it was decided to cooperate with other Baltic countries and seek financial support from the EU.

— It is time to combine our capabilities and act in a coordinated manner both at the regional and EU level. Yes, it is very expensive, but we must discuss the possibilities of combining our efforts and receiving appropriate support from the EU… We call for a risk assessment at the EU level to better understand the threats and ensure civil protection measures, the minister said.

Recently, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis expressed the opinion that NATO's inaction led to the unhindered fall of Russian drones on the territory of the North Atlantic bloc countries.

The head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry noted that incidents that were unthinkable three years ago are now considered routine.
