“Warm cyberwar”: Russia trained a group of people who tried to influence the elections in Poland Sofia Rozhik

Presidential elections are scheduled in Poland for May 2025. On Friday, January 10, they announced that they had already exposed a Russian group that tried to interfere in the election process.

It was prepared by Russian military intelligence. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to PAP.

“Russia is waging a cyber war on Poland”

The head of the Polish Ministry of Digitalization, Krzysztof Gawkowski, said that the exposed individuals tried to influence the elections through the spread of disinformation and recruitment.

In recent days, a Russian group has been discovered, another one inspired and trained by the Russian military intelligence GRU, whose goal is to influence the Polish elections. Not only on the Polish political scene, but also on the Polish elections, – said Gawkowski.

According to him, this is a Russian group, but “it can recruit different people.”

“Russia is waging a cyber war against Poland, not a cold one, but a warm one. We are the most attacked country in the European Union,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Digitalization.

Against this background, he also announced that an election protection plan will be presented at the end of January, on which “new units” will work.

“They are responsible for ensuring that we can identify such groups in cooperation with the Polish intelligence services,” said Gawkowski.
