On the night of November 16, one of the military facilities belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defense caught fire in the Volgograd region. It became known that a warehouse with weapons and ammunition was on fire.

The Main Intelligence Directorate confirmed that on November 16, the enemy actually lost one arsenal. The Russian authorities officially confirmed only the fire, without indicating its cause.

Details of the night blaze

On the night of November 16, at around 01:00, a fire broke out at a facility of the Russian Ministry of Defense near the village of Kotluban, located 40 kilometers from Volgograd. The fire was extinguished just before 5 am.

Russian public pages write that more than 600 people, including three children, were evacuated from the territory of the military unit. Residents of the village claim that they heard the characteristic sound of a drone, after which there was an explosion.

Probably, the arsenal of the GRAU military unit numbered 57229-51, where the artillery ammunition depot is located, exploded. The Main Intelligence Directorate did not officially confirm that the fire was the result of Ukrainian drones. The village itself is located more than 500 kilometers from a possible UAV launch site from Ukrainian territory.

We can neither confirm nor deny (Ukraine’s involvement – Channel 24), but the enemy has lost another arsenal today,” emphasized GUR representative Yusov.

Officially, local authorities confirmed the fire, but said that there was no damage. They added that they were still investigating the cause of the sudden fire. Relatives of Russians who served in that unit report that they cannot reach the military by phone. Communication interruptions are being recorded in the village.

Regular explosions in Russia

• On November 15, Russians complained that a drone allegedly attacked a gunpowder factory in the Tambov region. According to propagandists, the drone damaged part of the roof of the mass mixing workshop.
• Before this, explosions were heard near a military unit in the Krasnodar region, and a fire also broke out there. Locals also wrote that the fire probably broke out at a sawmill located on the property.
• On the night of November 11, the drone allegedly “fell and exploded” on the territory of the Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau in Kolomna. It is worth adding that this plant produces Iskander-M complexes and Kinzhal missiles.
