Wants one thing: what is Trump's key idea regarding Ukraine's negotiations with Russia Natalia Belzetskaya

Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he will be able to end the war in Ukraine when he becomes US president. Western media predicted that this would happen through negotiations between Kiev and Moscow.

Expert of the Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian Prism” Alexander Krayev told 24 Channel that this was the key thesis in Trump's rhetoric. It can be considered not only in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, but as the main idea of the new president's foreign policy.

What Trump wants to achieve

The newly elected US president is trying to implement the idea of starting negotiations everywhere. We are talking about all the wars in the world. Trump himself stated this in his speech immediately after winning the election.

It is interesting that he did not emphasize that this should be a fair peace, a win for those who suffered from aggression, that the aggressor must be punished. Trump simply wants to stop the wars, put an end to this issue and move on, – noted Alexander Krayev.

He needs to show his voters the result – the fighting on the fronts has stopped, and the parties have reached the demarcation line. In his eyes, this will allegedly be the fulfillment of the voiced promises. Therefore, Donald Trump supports negotiations on any terms. He uses the same tactics in relation to Israel.

I do not think that a peace agreement as such will be important to Trump. What is important to him is the very start of negotiations, which is impossible without a ceasefire. And earlier we said that he wants to show the Americans that everyone has stopped shooting, – emphasized Alexander Krayev.

This will not mean that Ukraine has recognized the occupied territories as Russian, or that Russia has withdrawn from Crimea. This would mean that a long process of negotiations has begun, but a ceasefire is in effect for a certain period. This option is very similar to the format of the Minsk negotiations, but without any control from Europe or the US.
