A Polish citizen appealed to Ukraine regarding the Volyn tragedy/Collage by Channel 24

For the first time in Poland, a private application was submitted for the exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy. Karolina Romanovska has addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance.

The head of the Polish-Ukrainian Reconciliation Society, Karolina Romanovska, is asking for a dignified burial for 18 people, including members of her family, who were killed in the village of Uhly, which is now located in the Rivne region.

The Pole Wants to Deprive Russia of a “Propaganda Tool”

Romanovska stressed that resolving the Volyn issue is the only way to deprive Russia of a “propaganda tool”.

She also noted that her family has never hated Ukrainians and since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, they immediately began to help Ukraine.

As soon as the war began in 2022, we immediately began to provide assistance and continue to support Ukraine. We understand that the UPA in the 1940s represented only an insignificant part of the Ukrainian population, she said.

Recall that on July 11, the Polish Sejm adopted a resolution on the Volyn tragedy. Then Poland called for the exhumation, burial and honoring of all the victims of this tragedy.
