The titled cyclist and defender of Ukraine died in the war with the Russian occupiers Andrey Kutsenko.
The death of the defender was reported in the branch of the NOC of Ukraine in the Lvov region.

Kutsenko was a winner and prize-winner of international competitions, a participant in the European and World Championships, a multiple champion of Ukraine, an international master of sports of Ukraine.

It is reported that with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian invaders, Kutsenko returned from Italy, where he lived with his family, and volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
For more than two years he defended his native land in different directions of the front. The last battle took place as part of the 47th separate mechanized brigade Magura of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Farewell to Andrey Kutsenko is planned for Tuesday, July 9, in the city of Zhovkva, Lviv region.
In May 2024, the head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Matvey Bedny, in an interview with DW, said that at that time, as a result of Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, 456 Ukrainian athletes and coaches who belonged to national teams were killed.
