Russia in action. This time, the property of another oligarch of the aggressor country was arrested. On May 3, the French Treasury General added the Copab villa in Saint-Tropez to the list of “frozen” Russian assets in France.
Schemes journalists conducted an investigation and found that this villa on the Cote d'Azur belongs to the family of Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman. Previously, it was not known who owns the luxurious estate. According to Scheme, the villa is registered with a French company.
Media officials reported that the villa was rented out. Therefore, the oligarch's family can earn more than 180 thousand euros a month on it.
On Tuesday, May 3, the General Treasury of France decided to include the Friedman family's elite real estate in the list of “frozen” property.
As a result of the investigation, the Schemes journalists reported that the estate was registered with the French company SNC COPAB. The media have documents at their disposal, according to which the beneficiaries of the company in equal shares are the daughters of Mikhail Fridman, Larisa and Ekaterina Fridman. In particular, another 1 percent remains with the former wife of the oligarch Olga Aiziman.

The European Union imposes sanctions not only on economy, foreign assets of Russia, but also on individuals, which include the richest people of the aggressor country. In this regard, the French authorities decided to “freeze” Friedman's villa.

The villa is called Copab. It stretches for 580 meters right next to the sea in the town of Saint-Tropez. The villa also has a swimming pool, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and a separate helicopter pad.

According to Scheme journalists, this property of the oligarch is rented out. The price of a house per day is from 6 thousand euros, but you can book it for at least 3 days. In summer, the rental price rises to 16 thousand, and the minimum number of days of residence is 7. After analyzing these facts, we can conclude that the villa could bring owners at least 180 to 440 thousand euros per month.
Sanctions against Fridman
Four days after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, on February 28, the EU imposed sanctions against Mikhail Fridman. He became one of the first oligarchs to be included in the sanctions list.
Friedman has strong ties to the Putin administration, built a business, taking advantage of his proximity to power, the explanation for the sanctions reads.
In particular, Fridman is accused of facilitating the hostile occupation of Crimea in 2014. The sanctions include an asset freeze, a ban on the transfer of funds and a ban on entry into the territory of the countries of the European Union.
Fridman's ex-wife Olga Ayziman was also subject to EU sanctions, which were put into effect on April 8.
