The High Anti-Corruption Court has chosen a preventive measure for Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshev: UAH 120 million in bail, a ban on traveling abroad without permission, and an obligation to appear when summoned by investigators.
VAKS has chosen a preventive measure for Chernyshev: what is known
As Radio Liberty reports, the prosecutor's office insisted on such a bail amount because it believes that Chernyshov can influence the investigation due to his high position and connections.
The lawyers reject these risks and note that their client’s accounts have been frozen and the suspicion is unfounded.

The court hearing on the case of the current Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshev, began on the morning of June 27.
NABU and SAP have applied to the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) with a petition to remove him, set bail and select a preventive measure, HACC reported on Telegram.
Court hearing on the case of Alexey Chernyshov
Alexey Chernyshov arrived at the VAKS meeting, which was previously postponed from June 25 to June 27.
“I am absolutely confident about this case. I think we need to be patient,” Chernyshov told reporters before the court hearing.
In addition to the suspension, NABU and SAP sent a petition to the HACC to apply a preventive measure in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 120 million to Chernyshov.
SAP also requires that a number of duties be assigned to the official:
- to attend every request to the detective, prosecutor and court;
- report changes in place of residence and work;
- do not leave the populated area without permission;
- surrender foreign passports;
- refrain from communicating with other suspects and witnesses;
- wear an electronic monitoring device.
The anti-corruption authorities noted that the application of such a preventive measure was agreed upon based on the risks in the case, as well as taking into account the judicial practice of the High Anti-Corruption Court in similar cases.
In particular, they took into account Chernyshov’s return to Ukraine and his arrival at NABU upon summons.
If the court determines a preventive measure, the suspect is required to post bail within five days.
If Chernyshov fails to fulfill his obligation or violates the conditions, the prosecutor may apply to change the measure to a more severe one.
Let us recall that Alexey Chernyshov is suspected of abuse of office and bribery.
According to NABU, he received illegal benefits totaling more than UAH 14.5 million through corruption schemes in the construction sector.
