VAKS arrested in absentia former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Gladkovsky

On May 13, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) arrested the former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) in absentia. We are talking about a case of causing damage to the state for more than 17 million UAH.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported this on its page on the social network Facebook.

According to a number of media reports, a message about the arrest in absentia was announced to Oleg Gladkovsky.

What is known about the Gladkovsky case

— On May 13, 2024, the investigative judge of the HACS supported the position of the SAPO prosecutor and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, who, together with the ex-deputy minister of defense and director of the department of the Ministry of Defense, is accused of causing damage to the state in the total amount of 17.44 million UAH, — SAP said in a message.

They added that during the pre-trial investigation it was established that the ex-NSDC official used the power and official position granted to him contrary to the interests of the service in order to obtain unlawful benefits from the structure in which he and his close associates have a share of property, namely — PJSC Automotive Company Bogdan Motors.

Oleg Gladkovsky was informed of the suspicion in October 2019. In April 2020, the former Deputy Minister of Defense and Director of the Department of the Ministry of Defense received suspicion. These persons are charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In October 2019, Oleg Gladkovsky was released from the pre-trial detention center. In July 2021, the indictment in this case was sent to HACS for consideration on the merits.

According to information from NABU and SAPO, Oleg Gladkovsky went abroad, so it was decided to put him on the wanted list.

April 16, 2024, the panel of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice, taking into account the failure of the accused to appear at court hearings and the presence of confirmed information about the submission of the SAP prosecutor’s petition to put the former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council on the wanted list.
