Unfortunately, before the end of 2023, the US Congress will not have time to vote on an aid package, in particular for Ukraine.
People's Deputy Alexandra Ustinova stated this on air at the national telethon United News.
– We have two days left — this is today and tomorrow. During these two days, the package must be voted on in both houses: the upper Senate and the lower. We see from the statements of Mitch McConnell, the chairman of the Republicans in the Senate, that unfortunately he also assesses our chances as very low,” she said.
The deputy explained what exactly was the reason for the delay in voting for the aid package for Ukraine. The fact is that representatives of the Democratic Party, unfortunately, did not want to concede the issue of the borders with Mexico, disagreements began regarding where refugee accommodation centers would be located in the United States or Mexico, and the Democrats withdrew from the negotiations.

– I want to remind you that when Biden submitted the package, it included four things: aid to Ukraine, aid to Israel, strengthening the border with Mexico (building a wall) and the Taiwan issue. The agreement was that everyone would vote together and thus the Democrats would give votes for Ukraine, the Republicans for Israel and the border, and thus would be able to collect the required number of votes in both the Senate and Congress,” she added.
Aid package for Ukraine
December 7, Republicans in the US Senate on Wednesday blocked a bill to provide aid to Ukraine and Israel due to its lack of provisions on US border security.
Senators voted 49-51, falling short of the two-thirds threshold (60 votes needed) that would allow the proposal to be tabled.
