US to Increase Missile Production, Particularly for Ukraine's Needs – Pentagon

by alex

The U.S. Department of Defense announced it has awarded $253.7 million to Williams International to increase missile production.

The Defense Production Act (DPA) contract will allow Williams to expand its gas turbine engine production capacity, which in turn will help meet the Pentagon's need for increased production of:

  • Harpoon anti-ship missiles;
  • AGM-158 JASSM air-to-surface missiles;
  • AGM-158C long-range anti-ship missiles LRASM;
  • Tomahawk cruise missiles and other precision-guided weapons.

The contract is using funds provided under the DPA Acquisition Program (DPAP) under the Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024 and the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024.

The Pentagon emphasized that these efforts will increase the production capacity of critical materials needed to defend against hostile aggression.

This contract is one of five awards made by the DPAP program office in various areas for a total of $290.8 million from the beginning of the 2025 fiscal year.
