US held consultations with Ukraine on response to DPRK troops’ participation in war, – State Department

The US State Department said it is holding consultations with Ukraine and its allies regarding the participation of North Korean troops in the war in Ukraine. In particular, they talked about next steps.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a briefing that he was not going to speak publicly about the reaction.

We have consulted with the Ukrainians, we have consulted with our allies and partners about the appropriate next steps, Matthew Miller said.

He also said that the content of those conversations would remain private.

Moreover, Matthew Miller explained that they spoke with China to make it clear that that the US is concerned about the destabilizing actions of Russia and North Korea.

According to the representative, Beijing was told that as an influential voice in the region, it too should be “concerned” about the actions that the DPRK has taken to undermine stability and security.

A US State Department representative said that Washington and South Korea will hold talks between the heads of the foreign and defense ministries in the US on October 31. They will discuss the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.
