A bipartisan resolution introduced in the U.S. Congress on June 30 condemns Russia's abduction and forced displacement of Ukrainian children and calls on Moscow to reach a peace agreement.

This was reported on the website of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.

“Putin is a war criminal, under his leadership the Russian military brutally kidnapped and illegally deported tens of thousands of Ukrainian children from their homeland. These crimes are not isolated cases, but a direct consequence of the war unleashed by Putin,” Miks emphasized.

He said the United States must condemn these actions by Russia and demand the immediate return of all Ukrainian children.

McCall, in turn, noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Russian Federation has kidnapped at least 19.5 thousand Ukrainian children, but the real figure reaches 200 thousand.

“These children were stripped of their national identity, adopted into Russian families, or trained to be soldiers for the Kremlin. As a father, I cannot imagine the pain their families have endured. Russia's mass kidnapping of children is a crime. The United States must demonstrate moral leadership by demanding that every child be returned to their family in Ukraine before real peace is achieved,” the congressman said.

In the Senate, the resolution was introduced by Republican Chuck Grassley and Democrat Amy Klobuchar.

In early June, the Ministry of Social Policy announced the payment of a one-time cash assistance of UAH 50,000 to Ukrainian children who return from deportation, forced displacement or temporarily occupied territories.
