“Until now it seemed unreal”: exclusive report by Channel 24 presenter from Kursk region Angela Figin

For 10 days, military operations have been ongoing in the Kursk region. Currently, the Armed Forces control approximately 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory and are advancing further.

However, the situation in the Kursk direction is becoming more complicated. Host 24 ChannelAndriana Kucher, who visited the outskirts of Sudzha, spoke about the situation in the region and the mood of the Ukrainian military.

What is the situation on the line of combat

The host of Channel 24 managed to travel 8 kilometers deep into Russia. According to her assessment, the line of combat probably runs far beyond the city of Sudzha and has advanced at least 10-15 kilometers.

This is Russian soil. Until now, this seemed unrealistic. I expected it to be much louder,” Kucher noted.

The commander of one of the units of the 43rd artillery brigade said that their goal reaches far beyond the Kursk region. Of course, no one can yet say how far the Ukrainian troops will be able to advance, but this is obviously a goal.

Our military would like to almost reach Moscow. This sounds very optimistic now, – added the host of Channel 24.

However, the Russians have already become more active and have pulled up enough reserves. In some areas in the Kursk region, very intense fighting continues and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have to go on the defensive. However, overall, the offensive is advancing.

The enemy is using many drones in the Kursk region

Russian drones also have a great influence. According to our military, the enemy is using a lot of UAVs in the Kursk region.

The local population is afraid to evacuate because drones hunt even civilian cars. Therefore, Russians are evacuating on foot deep into Russian territory from populated areas adjacent to the line of combat.

The enemy does not spare aviation, drones, or any other component that enables him to contain the Armed Forces and hinder their advance.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces will dig in and occupy Russian positions

All the military personnel I spoke with, express hope and even confidence that the Defense Forces will be there for a long time. Our fighters are digging in, strengthening themselves, and occupying abandoned Russian positions, Kucher said.

She noted that the Russians had well-equipped positions on the border in Kursk Oblast. But these fortifications were mostly occupied by conscripts and border guards who were afraid of being surrounded and were not prepared for combat at all.

Our fighters are now capturing these positions, which will likely become reliable fortifications against Russian attempts to push the Ukrainian army out of Kursk Oblast.
