Unknown drones were involved in the attack on Engels, says CPD Anzhelika Galesevich

The Russian oil depot “Krystal Plant”, which was attacked by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, is still burning brightly. The drones used in the attack were not involved in attacks before.

They are completely unknown to the enemy. Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko shared exclusive details with Channel 24.

Why they hit the oil depot and not the airfield

Units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Kristall Combine oil depot in Engels, Saratov Oblast.

It was this depot that supplied fuel to the Engels-2 military airfield. Kovalenko explained that it is quite difficult to destroy the airfield. It is more effective to cut off the supply chain of fuel for aviation needs, which is what Ukraine did.

New drones participated in the attack

Kovalenko noted: if the number of combat sorties decreases, then the planning of strikes on Ukraine will shift and be reduced accordingly. The Defense Forces, according to the head of the Center for Disaster Relief, carried out a high-quality operation.

I won't reveal much about the operation, but it involved drones previously unknown to Russia, which were not involved in previous attacks, noted Andrey Kovalenko.

By the way, Defense Express explained that if the T-8V fuel tanks were hit as a result of this attack, the use of Tu-160 aircraft would decrease.

It is also known that two Emergencies Ministry employees died as a result of extinguishing the fire, and another was hospitalized with injuries.
