< p _ngcontent-sc100="" class="news-annotation">On February 3, the Ukraine-EU summit took place in Kyiv. The leaders of the European Union assured of the irreversibility of the process of European integration of our country. The European Union as a whole is a means of collective survival, so it needs Ukraine in its composition.

About thisChannel 24Yaroslav Bozhko, head of the Doctrine Center for Political Studies, said. According to him, it is better for Europe to keep Ukraine inside its fortress than outside.

The EU wants to expand the security zone

Bozhko noted that Europe lives in a situation where it is very strongly influenced by the events of other countries, which it does not influence enough. We are talking about Russia and Belarus, as well as Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.

That is, for Europe, the long-term geopolitical, global interest, stretched over a decade, will be the creation of the deepest possible zone of democracy, legal mechanisms, normal control over the state apparatus and trust,โ€ said the head of the Doctrine Center for Political Studies.

That is, according to him, the EU needs to expand the security zone, not at the expense of some kind of buffer from the gray zone, but by spreading its practices, norms and standards. And the Europeans can continue to build some kind of general stable plans for wider territories.

The European Union is a means of collective survival

The head of the Center for Political Studies “Doctrine” noted that the European Union is a kind of means of collective survival.

The European Union is, in fact, such a means of collective survival, albeit rich, but still small in the global dimension, European countries that face competition with such giants as the United States, Russia, China, India, which only together can develop a certain defense and security policy of continental importance,โ€ Bozhko said.

Therefore, he concluded, for the collective survival of Europe, it is better to keep Ukraine inside its fortress than outside. After all, if Russia had seized Ukraine, it would have received more controlled territory, human resources, minerals and enterprises. This would increase her chances of sharing influence in Europe. But nobody in the European Union needs it.

Ukraine's path to the EU: in short

  • Ukraine applied for EU membership on February 28 2022. On June 23 of the same year, Ukraine officially acquired the status of a candidate member of the European Union.
  • Ukraine has a very ambitious plan. Thus, as Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal stated, our state plans to become a full member of the European Union within the next two years.
  • Deputies of the European Parliament demand that the EU countries prepare for negotiations on Ukraine's full membership in the EU. However, Ukraine also made demands.
