Unfortunately, he is smart: is the new Russian Defense Minister capable of turning the tide of the war?

by alex

Russia has a new defense minister – economist Andrey Belousov. His appointment to this position may indicate that Vladimir Putin wants to finally transfer the Russian economy to military “rails” and continue the war in Ukraine as long as possible.

The Russian Ministry of Defense during the time of Sergei Shoigu was mired in corruption, however, according to the head of the Sitting Rus' charity foundation, Olga Romanova, which she shared with 24 Channel, corruption is not what Putin’s ministers are fired for. At the same time, Shoigu was a great “gift” for people opposed to the war in Ukraine.

Convinced “hawk”

The ex-Minister of Defense of Russia was, according to Romanova, stupid, not a military man, he stole a lot, and this was his “advantage”.

At the same time, Andrei Belousov, unfortunately, is smart. He is a smart, sleek fascist. He loves classical music. He is a convinced “hawk” and a supporter of transferring the Russian economy to a mobilization track. Presumably there will be a redistribution of property in Russia. This is a very serious Putin “chord,” Romanova emphasized.

Belousov is dissatisfied that the so-called “SVO” among the priorities of Russians is somewhere on the periphery. Now, in her opinion, there will be “everything for the front, everything for victory,” and the war should come to the home of every Russian.

“This is already happening. In particular, in the Belgorod region. At the same time, the offensive of the Russians in the Kharkov region, I would like to believe, is only a maneuver for now. However, in general the situation is very serious,” emphasized the chairman of the Sitting Rus' charity foundation. < /p>

Can outplay Putin

Even before the occupiers begin to advance in the north of the Kharkov region, analysts and experts noted that Russia does not have the resources to conduct active offensive operations. However, after Belousov took charge of the Ministry of Defense, the situation may change.

Now the new minister will be responsible for providing the army with ammunition, weapons, equipment and everything necessary, and he, unfortunately, will find the appropriate resources,” she noted.

As for the personnel reserve, there are still a maximum of 150 thousand prisoners in Russian zones who can be sent to the front. And then mobilization is needed.

“I am sure that Belousov will not have any doubts about its implementation. K Besides, as a cynical and tough person, he doesn’t care at all. If we assume that someone can outplay Putin and take his place, then Belousov is one of those. who is capable of doing this,” summarized Olga Romanova.

What is happening in the Russian Ministry of Defense

  • After his inauguration, Putin updated the composition of the government and other government institutions. In particular the Ministry of Defense. Instead of Sergei Shoigu, who became secretary of the Security Council, economist Andrei Belousov was appointed as the new head of the ministry. He must restore order in the department, which the day before found itself at the epicenter of a corruption scandal.
  • Deputy Minister of Defense Timur Ivanov was detained on April 23 and sent to a pre-trial detention center. He is accused of receiving a bribe of approximately 1 billion rubles. In particular, he oversaw the “restoration” of occupied Mariupol. Ivanov’s henchmen involved in this case were also arrested.
  • Another deputy of the then Minister Shoigu, Ruslan Tsalikov, was interrogated in the Ivanov case. After Belousov's appointment, he submitted his resignation.
  • However, arrests in the department continue. The head of the personnel department of the Ministry of Defense, Yuri Kuznetsov, was behind bars. A criminal case has been opened against him, also for receiving a bribe on an especially large scale.
