The dictatorship in Russia has been going on for many years. Vladimir Putin controls all sectors of society, but this may change one day.

Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko told Channel 24 that the Kremlin dictator is completely indifferent to society's opinion of him. Probably, no protests by Russians matter.

What can destroy Putin's power

Igor Yakovenko noted that the totalitarian regime that has arisen in Russia cannot be overthrown by citizens' discontent. There, the internal army is ready to block any attempts to change the government at any moment.

However, only the top of the security forces can change the attitude towards Putin. This is why the dictator so diligently protects or keeps the generals, the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense in constant fear, he said.

The journalist emphasized that the difficult moment for Putin's rule was the rebellion of Yevgeny Prigozhin. Then he lost control over some of the processes that took place in Russia.

“But after that there was a demonstrative execution. Putin regained control. But this does not mean forever,” Yakovenko noted.

He suggested that a coup in Russia is only possible with the participation of the top brass. This can happen if there are serious losses on the battlefield or the Defense Forces are successful on the territory of the aggressor country.

But armed people can only be defeated by other armed people. And now the internal army, which is aimed at intimidation and stopping any protest, is more than the occupation army. There is no chance for popular protests in Russia, the journalist said.

Kadyrov's role

Igor Yakovenko believes that Kadyrov's men play the role of bandits in Russian society. They deserve a caricature image, because at the front they demonstrate timidity before real combat clashes with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ramzan Kadyrov's army during Prigozhin's uprising tried to move as slowly as possible so as not to have to engage in battle, he said.

Kadyrov's men can rob or kill if they are confronted by unarmed people. They should not be considered a serious fighting force.

The journalist added that if Putin wants to escape to Chechnya, in the event of a coup d'etat, then Kadyrov will gladly betray him.
