The UN has published a report indicating human rights violations during the war in Ukraine.
Kyiv has disagreed with certain conclusions, in particular regarding the comparison of the scale of violations committed by Russia and Ukraine. This was reported by the ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets.

The document, among other things, records Russia's systematic crimes, such as attacks on civilian infrastructure, executions, torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war and the illegal seizure of property in the occupied territories.
The Human Rights Commissioner in the Verkhovna Rada noted that certain UN conclusions on violations committed by Ukraine are erroneous.
– I categorically disagree with the fact that certain comments and recommendations provided by the Office have not been taken into account ombudsman, – Lubinets emphasized.
The facts of probable torture of Russian military personnel are being checked
He drew attention to the fact that the report mentions cases of torture of Russian prisoners of war at transit points.
However, the ombudsman recalled that these facts are being investigated by the Office of the Prosecutor General. The fact that the investigation is ongoing was also noted by the Coordinating Staff, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense.
Lubinets emphasized that Ukraine adheres to the norms of the Geneva Convention on the conditions of detention of Russian prisoners. According to him, this is confirmed by regular inspections of special areas and camps, which are carried out by representatives of public organizations and the Ombudsman's Office.
UN compares violations committed by Russia and Ukraine
According to the Ombudsman, the UN is trying to compare the scale of violations committed by Ukraine and Russia.
– However, we all see what Ukrainians are like when they return from Russian captivity. They were tortured, abused, subjected to psychological pressure, and denied proper medical care. They return home with injuries that are sometimes incompatible with life, Lubinets emphasized.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the UN calls on both sides of the conflict to comply with the norms of international humanitarian law, although Ukraine provides international organizations with access to its territory, while Russia does not.
Let us recall that legislative changes came into force in Ukraine prohibiting the activities of religious organizations associated with the Russian Orthodox Church and similar structures in the Russian Federation.
This has drawn criticism from the UN, but Ukraine firmly maintains its position that such steps are necessary to protect the state.
