On Independence Day, State Emergency Service rescuer Vladimir Skovorodka crossed the finish line of the “Ultramarathon of Gratitude” project near the fire and rescue station in Warsaw. He covered 850 kilometers in 14 days.

The start of the ultramarathon took place on August 11 from Mikhailovskaya Square in Kyiv. Skovorodka has set an absolute record in Ukraine, channel 24 reports.

Rescuer ran 850 kilometers in 14 days.

Volodymyr Skovorodko has been serving as a lifeguard in the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Kyiv for the ninth year. He has already set several Ukrainian national records, including running a marathon of 21 and 42 kilometers in full firefighting gear. In 2019-2021, Skovorodka participated in the ultra run – 500 kilometers in 10 days.

This project became for me not only an ambitious challenge to myself, but also an opportunity to help my colleagues- rescuers from the State Emergency Service to make the reservoirs of Ukraine as safe as possible, – said the rescuer.

According to him, the money raised as part of the Gratitude Ultramarathon will be used to purchase underwater drones and other modern equipment for demining. Thanks to this, rescuers will be able to save the lives of many Ukrainians without risking their own health.

“Hundreds of super-difficult kilometers are already behind us, but the fundraising continues! Let's help our heroes together!” Skovorodko stressed.

Curious!The goal of the project is to raise 2 million hryvnias for the purchase of modern equipment that will help the capital's emergency rescue squad for special purposes clear mines. The collection of charitable contributions takes place as part of the “Ultramarathon for All” initiative from Nova Poshta on the website ultramarathonforall.org. />

Fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also joined the marathon

The Skovorodka route ran through 5 Ukrainian and 5 Polish cities. At each keypoint local rescuers, athletes, representatives of running clubs and other caring Ukrainians and Poles joined the run.

At the start of the ultramarathon, the most emotional for Vladimir was the route segment through Bucha, Irpen, Borodianka and other de-occupied territories of the Kyiv areas. Noticing the runner, the local grandfather, who sold apples on the track, treated him for free.

On the route to Vladimir, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine often joined, who were specially asked to leave the service in order to run several kilometers with him . The acquaintance of the hero of the project with Polish firefighters turned out to be especially pleasant.

They met Vladimir in full gear and on their own equipment, after which they exchanged flags of Ukraine and Poland with him as a sign of friendship and cooperation.

During the 14 days of the Gratitude Ultramarathon, popular Ukrainian stars and opinion leaders supported, in particular:

  • Television hosts Timur Miroshnichenko and Solomiya Vitvitskaya;
  • musicians Wellboy, alyona alyona, Olya Tsybulskaya, TAYANNA;

He added that in the most difficult moments the Ukrainian and Polish peoples are always ready to unite in the fight against enemies .
