In June 2022, Ukrainians will have fewer days off than usual. The traditional peacetime weekend on June 13 and 28 will be working.

The news was reported in the Main Department of State Labor in the Lviv region. The corresponding decision was explained by the law on the organization of labor relations under martial law.

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed it on March 15, 2022. The document provides that during martial law, the relevant articles of the Labor Code regarding the definition of holidays and non-working days do not apply.

If a holiday falls on a day off, it is not transferred to the next day.

Ukrainians have no days off this year:

  • June 13 (Monday after Trinity);
  • June 28 (Constitution Day).

In April and May, there were also fewer days off

Due to due to martial law in April and May, Ukrainians also had fewer days off. We are talking about the fact that April 25, May 2 and May 9 were ordinary working days for Ukrainians.

The Rada extended martial law

  • On May 22, the Verkhovna Rada decided to extension of martial law for 90 days – until August 23, 2022.
  • 315 people's deputies cast their votes in favor.
  • President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted the corresponding proposal to the Rada.
  • Earlier, the parliament twice extended martial law for 30 days.
  • The Servant of the People argued this decision by saying that there are no guarantees that the hostilities will end in the next 30 days. Especially since a counteroffensive takes longer than a defense.
  • If the fighting ends before August 23, martial law can be lifted ahead of schedule.
  • In addition, the Council supported the extension of the general mobilization period. The corresponding decision was supported by 315 deputies.

Note! Martial law is a special legal regime. It is administered in the country or certain regions during the threat of armed aggression or attack. Martial law is introduced to give the appropriate government authorities the powers necessary to reduce or prevent the threat and ensure national security.
