In the Khmelnitsky region, a man filed a lawsuit against Russia. As a result, the court decided to pay him 200 thousand UAH compensation from the Russian Federation for moral damage caused by the war.

A man's claim against Russia

In the lawsuit, the man complained of poor sleep due to air raid alarms. He also noted that because of the war that Russia unleashed, his relations with people had deteriorated, according to the ruling of the Khmelnytsky Court of Appeal.

The man claimed in his statement of claim that the war led to a violation of his rights and moral suffering. According to him, he experiences daily stress due to air raids and long periods of time in shelter. As a result of this, he cannot sleep normally, because he is shuddering from the howling of sirens.

He also complained about public opinion leaders, because of whom he accumulated psychological negativity and accelerated the aging process.

In addition, the man noted that the sight of destroyed buildings in Khmelnitsky makes him uncomfortable.

After the man’s claim was rejected in the Khmelnitsky City District Court, he filed an appeal. In it, he asked to fully clarify all the circumstances of the case. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers filed a response to the appeal, citing its groundlessness and lack of evidence.

Therefore, the man demanded to recover in his favor 120 thousand UAH of moral damages from the Russian Federation and 1 UAH for the damage caused to him by Ukraine due to “unfair activities of public authorities”.

As a result, the court ruled that the Russian Federation should pay the man 200 thousand UAH for the moral suffering caused to him by the war.
