A Ukrainian woman who was taken to an aggressor state was almost tortured in a Russian psychiatric hospital. the invaders sent the woman there because of her refusal to provide information about herself.
In May 2022, a resident of Kharkiv, Irina, was taken by bus to Belgorod. There she ended up in a temporary detention center. This was told by human rights activist Alexei Pryanishnikov.
How Irina ended up in a psychiatric hospital
The medical documents indicate that the woman came to Belgorod to visit relatives. However, she notes that she had no relatives there. Irina refused to give information about herself. Therefore, the invaders sent her to the Belgorod psychiatric hospital.
Refusal to disclose information about oneself is not grounds for placement in a psychiatric hospital. But, unfortunately, this is not the first such case in my practice, – says Pryanishnikov.
Irina stayed in Belgorod until August 10, 2022, and then the woman was transferred to the Saratov region – to the Engels mental hospital.
The woman was “pumped up” with drugs
According to the human rights activist, Russian doctors gave the woman haloperidol. Such an antipsychotic has been used in the treatment of schizophrenia since Soviet times. Pryanishnikov added that the entire civilized world considers it a harmful drug with many side effects.
Irina did not have Ukrainian documents. Therefore, the Russians repeatedly blackmailed her with an extract from a mental hospital in exchange for obtaining Russian citizenship. The woman refused.
Irina's son was looking for her for almost half a year
Irina's son has been looking for his mother for 5 months. In September 2022, he managed to find her in a hospital in Engels. He himself could not leave because of martial law.
On February 21, the human rights activist managed to get a meeting with Irina in a mental hospital. The doctors were not happy with the visit of the human rights activist, they even consulted with the migration unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but released Irina before lunch.
By the evening of February 23, Irina was in Kharkov, where she met her son after 10 months of separation.
