Ukrainian military helped a 3-month-old baby survive in Mariupol

Russian military shelled Mariupol from the first days of a full-scale war, because of which thousands of people were on the verge of survival. The Russian invasion also put children at risk. Our military, who saved a 3-month-old baby, did not leave little Ukrainians in trouble.

Arina Viktorovna, who managed to evacuate from Mariupol, shared a touching story of rescue . Only on March 26, the woman left for Zaporozhye with her husband.

Arina, a local resident, worked as a tram driver before the war. She said that during the Russian offensive she took in relatives with three children who fled from shelling from the Vostochny microdistrict.

The youngest child is only 3 months old. There was no baby food for Maxim, but the Ukrainian military came to the rescue. The woman said that the AFU soldiers brought baby food.

According to Arina, thanks to the help of Ukrainian defenders, the children survived.

On March 8, I went to the 3rd checkpoint of the Ilyich plant for a hot meal. The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine brought diapers and baby food for the kids, which they took away from the marauders. Thanks to such assistance, the children who were in the plant's bomb shelter, and in particular our 3-month-old Maxim, survived, the woman said.

Later, Arina had to leave Mariupol, as the war reached their area. The family covered part of the road on foot.

What is the situation in Mariupol

  • Russia created a humanitarian catastrophe in the city, destroying Mariupol almost to the ground. Also, the invaders massively deport Ukrainians, separating children from their parents.
  • According to the Ombudswoman, the Russian invaders deported 915,000 Ukrainians, including 160,000 children.
  • Some of the people are still in Mariupol , hiding on “Azovstal”. According to preliminary data, there are more than 600 wounded, including children.
  • Unfortunately, a little girl died during one of the Russian bombardments at Azovstal.
