Ukrainian Kotovsky took bronze at the World Cup in ski acrobatics

Ukrainian Dmitry Kotovsky won a bronze medal at the first stage of the World Cup this season. The competition took place in the Finnish Ruka.

This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee on Sunday, December 3.

The 22-year-old freestyler from Rivne cleared qualifying and the first round of the finals with a triple somersault with four spins.

In the final round, he performed his signature hurricane jump (full-triple full-ful), which was the most difficult jump among the six superfinalists.

For the jump , Kotovsky received 117,000 points , losing only to the Beijing Olympic champion, Chinese Qi Guangpu (119.91) and Swiss Pirmin Werner (119.00).

Let us note that Kotovsky is the only Ukrainian athlete who reached the super final at the stage in Finnish Ruka.

Let us remember that in February 2023, Kotovsky won gold at the World Cup in Deer Well – it became the first at this level in his career. Then he performed a hurricane jump, for which he was awarded 138.82 points.

The hurricane jump is the most difficult in this sport. This is a triple somersault with five twists. Before Kotovsky, only one athlete managed to perform this jump, American Jeret Peterson, vice-champion of the 2010 Olympics.
