The work of Ukrainian aviation has been and remains an important component with the support of ground troops. In particular, we are talking about the Kherson and Kharkiv directions.
This was said during a briefing by Yuriy Ignat, the speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He noted that in our aviation, a single tactic and strategy is to support our troops so that they move forward with the least losses and fire new settlements.
Aviation support – a key factor in land advantage
According to Ignatiy, tactics changed a few months ago after Ukraine received American AGM-88 HARM missiles. The speaker of the Air Force stressed that these are powerful and anti-radar missiles.
With the help of these missiles, our aircraft strikes enemy radars, radar stations, anti-aircraft missile systems.
Thus, it is possible to significantly “thin out” the enemy's air defense, actually destroying the hostile air defense,” Ignat said.
He noted that this allows tactical strike aircraft to deliver powerful group strikes. Ignat stressed that this is done daily up to 10-15 airstrikes on various important targets. We are talking about attacks on enemy logistics, ammunition depots, equipment, enemy manpower, etc.
According to him, such air strikes allow our ground forces to “feel freer.” He added that air support is a key factor in the advantage on the ground.
We note that over the past day, Ukrainian aviation has dealt 5 strikes, as a result of which it has been confirmed:
- defeat 3 strongholds and areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment;
- 2 positions of enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
It should be added that the UK announced the transfer of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles to Ukraine. These missiles can be used in conjunction with the NASAMS air defense system supplied to Ukraine by the United States.
In addition, NATO will transfer equipment to Ukraine to combat drones, and Spain lamented the decision to transfer 4 American Hawk air defense systems.
