Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany to Be Fired, Replacement Found — Media

President Volodymyr Zelensky may fire Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Alexey Makeyev.

As RBC-Ukraine and the German publication Bild write, Makeyev has allegedly already found a replacement for the position.

According to Bild, the rotation of diplomats in the post of Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany is part of larger personnel changes that are also taking place in other diplomatic agencies.

As Bild notes, Yevgeny Korniychuk, who is currently the head of the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel, may become the new Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany.

In turn, a source of RBC-Ukraine confirmed that Ambassador Makeyev will indeed be replaced.

ICTV Facts could not independently confirm the information about the dismissal of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany. Official diplomatic institutions, including the Office of the President of Ukraine, have not yet publicly announced such plans.

Who is Alexey Makeyev

Makeyev was born on November 25, 1975. At a young age, in 1996, he began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, where he was engaged in analysis and planning in the political department.

In 1997, Makeyev completed his studies at the Institute of International Relations, which is in the KNU im. Taras Shevchenko, with a specialty as a referent-translator from Spanish.

From 1999 to 2002, he was an employee of the political department of the Ukrainian embassy in Switzerland.

He was also an adviser to the Ukrainian embassy in Germany from 2005 to 2009.

From 2014 to 2020, he was the political director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and then, until 2022, held the position of special representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on sanctions policy.

Makeyev headed the Ukrainian embassy in Germany on September 23, 2022 years.
