The Spanish newspaper El Pais published an article in which it claimed that the Ukrainian government was allegedly negotiating with the EU to reduce aid to Ukrainian refugees and limit consular services for men of draft age. However, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry denied these claims.
Ukraine's position on rumors about limiting aid to refugees
According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi, the Ukrainian government has not asked EU countries to reduce aid to refugees. He also noted that Ukrainian men of draft age have access to consular services.
— The aim is to create positive motivation, not obstacles, to encourage the voluntary return of our citizens, — he wrote.
The Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine stated that they do not plan to forcibly return citizens or introduce artificial restrictions for Ukrainians abroad, in particular regarding consular services or social assistance.
