Only two football players will go to the Olympics according to the age quota — These are 24-year-old central defender of Austrian LASK Maksim Taloverov, who also participated in Euro 2024, and 23-year-old midfielder Dmytro Kryskiv.

  • Goalkeepers: Kirill Fesyun (Shakhtar), Yakov Kinareikin (Dnipro-1), Georgiy Ermakov (Oleksandria);
  • Defenders: Maksim Taloverov (LASK, Austria), Arseniy Batagov (Zorya), Ilya Krupskiy, Yevhen Pavlyuk (both — Vorskla), Oleksandr Martynyuk (Oleksandria), Oleksiy Sych (Rukh), Vladimir Salyuk (Chernomorets);
  • Midfielders:Maxim Khlan (Legia, Poland), Dmitry Kryskiv, Oleg Ocheretko, Kirill Sigeev (all — Shakhtar), Valentin Rubchinsky (Dnepr-1), Maxim Bragar, Nikolay Mikhailenko (both — Dynamo), Vladislav Giant (Ear), Oleg Fedor (Rukh), Artem Shulyansky (Alexandria);
  • Forwards: Daniil Sikan (Shakhtar), Igor Krasnopir (Rukh).

The team consists of most representatives from Donetsk Shakhtar, which sent five players to the Olympics at once, in particular national team forward Daniil Sikan.

At the same time, Dynamo football players who took part in the June tournament in France were excluded from the application, — goalkeeper Ruslan Nesheret, defender Taras Mikhavko and midfielder Nazar Voloshin.

The main reason for the non-call-up of most football players who fall under the age limit is the decision of their clubs. The fact is that the Olympics coincide with the end of training camps for some clubs, as well as the start of qualifying for European competitions. Clubs have the right not to release their players to the Olympics, since it is not included in the FIFA calendar.

In particular, according to their age, some football players who took part in Euro 2024 qualified for the Olympics. We are talking about Anatoly Trubin, Ilya Zabarny, Georgy Sudakov, Mikhail Mudrik, Vladimir Brazhko and Vladislav Vanat.

The media wrote that Chelsea refused to let Mudryk go to the Games. Benfica probably also refused regarding Trubin’s participation, because the footballer himself said that he would like to play at the Olympics. Consequently, only two foreign clubs agreed to call up their players for the Games — Austrian LASK and Polish Legia.
