Ukrenergo predicts possible scheduled power outages due to the need to service operating energy facilities in Ukraine, as well as the consequences of Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

— The Ukrenergo dispatch center predicts a possible return to planned consumption restrictions. Reason for applying restrictive measures — the consequences of massive enemy missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian power plants, which caused significant shortages in the energy system, — the message says.
Energy workers recalled that from March 22 to May 8, the terrorist state purposefully attacked all large thermal and hydroelectric power plants five times, resulting in due to significant damage, these power facilities are unable to produce as much electricity as before these attacks began.

Also, Ukrenergo points out that in the spring and summer, scheduled maintenance activities are carried out at power plants, which is provided for by law. They occur annually and are necessary to prepare power units for operation under high load in the next heating season.
— This may influence the increase or decrease of deficit in the energy system, but is not its main factor. The shortage in the energy system is caused by the destruction of equipment at Ukrainian thermal and hydroelectric power plants as a result of Russian shelling, — noted in Ukrenergo.
The energy company adds that the launch of nuclear units for scheduled maintenance is a necessary measure that cannot be canceled or delayed, since not only the effective operation of nuclear plants next winter, preparations for which are ongoing now, depend on the success of the repair campaign in the summer , but also nuclear safety in general.
— The Ukrenergo dispatch center will use all possible tools to cover the deficit. If the regions exceed the consumption limits set by Ukrenergo, oblenergos will apply hourly shutdown schedules in accordance with the approved priority, — the message says.
Energy workers add that the timing of the application of restriction measures will be announced additionally.
