President of the European Council Charles Michel is confident that despite Hungary blocking the decision to provide Ukraine with €50 billion, it will receive this money.
He stated this in comments to the press after the end of the meeting of EU leaders, which lasted late into the night.
— We have the tools to ensure that Ukraine can count on our support, there is a strong political will of 26 leaders to accept this “mega package”. And this — the signal we want to send to Ukraine is — he emphasized.
Michel did not specify whether the EU would make a decision to bypass Orban’s veto, but assured that they would fulfill their financial obligations to Ukraine.
