Ukraine will receive 2 Skynex air defense systems from Germany: the Rheinmetall concern announced the terms

Germany will send Ukraine 2 short-range air defense systems. They will enter service in 2023.

This was announced by the General Director of the German concern Rheinmetall AG Armin Papperger.

According to him, the Skynex systems were ordered by the German government. Their cost is 212 million dollars. Papperger added that otherwise Germany used these systems for its own defense.

Notice! Skynex is a short range air defense system. It effectively shoots at a distance of up to 4 kilometers at a speed of a thousand rounds per minute. Air defense is capable of destroying drones.

Germany will increase the amount of aid

The website of the German government has published a list of military assistance that they plan to provide to Ukraine. It was updated and it was decided to send an additional 300,000 shells for the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery mount to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, at first Germany planned to transfer 3 BEAVER motor-laying tanks, but increased their number to 9. The number of first-aid kits increased from 100 thousand to 120, Zetros trucks – from 20 to 28, and Ukraine will additionally receive 10 winter camouflage nets.

Military aid for Ukraine: latest news

  • Over the next few weeks, Ukraine will receive 10 Leopard 2 tanks and 60 T-72 and PT-91 Twardy tanks from Poland.
  • Bulgaria will restore the production of Soviet 122-millimeter artillery ammunition for Ukrainian defenders.
  • In the spring, France will send GM 200 radars for air defense systems to Ukraine.
