Ukraine will move to a backup plan in case of lack of financial assistance – presidential adviser

If financial assistance from partners and allies is cut off, then Ukraine will have to resort to a backup plan.

This was stated by Advisor to the President of Ukraine Oleg Ustenko on the air of the national information telethon Unified News. According to him, if there is no support, it will be necessary to move to plan B.

— If there is no support in the first days of January — we need to move on to plan B. It can be multi-level, but I believe that at the first stage it is enough to turn to the domestic market for borrowing capital, — explained the Presidential Advisor.

Ustenko noted that the state budget deficit next year will tentatively reach $40 billion. Systematic tranches of assistance from allies are very important for Ukraine, he claims.

According to the forecast, Ukraine can receive $10 million from frozen Russian assets in the first tranche. The money is planned to be used to finance the state budget deficit, Ustenko noted.

The presidential adviser hopes that Ukraine will receive financial assistance from the European Union before December 25.
