Vladimir Zelensky made a European tour – on February 8 he was in London and Paris, and on February 9 he delivered a speech in the European Parliament . Experts believe that Ukraine will now definitely receive everything necessary for a counteroffensive, in particular, long-range missiles and aircraft.
About this Channel 24said military expert, head of the Center for Military Legal Research Alexander Musienko. He personally considers this trip of the president very successful, there were high-level meetings.
According to him, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak personally met Zelensky from the plane, and the speech of the head of Ukraine in front of the British Parliament. sent an important message that we need planes.
He added that Zelensky's visit to the military base where our military exercises are taking place was also important. Then there was a trip to Paris, Brussels.
As a result, Ukraine will get everything it needs for a counteroffensive. This is very important for us, I believe that Ukraine will receive long-range missiles, artillery, and aviation. The supply of aircraft may be delayed in a matter of time, but we will see long-range missiles earlier, Musienko said.
The military analyst noted that there is a consensus that Ukraine now needs to be helped to defeat the Russian army, which is trying to advance, and de-occupy Ukrainian territory.
“Therefore, this visit is important and has practical implications, which we will see later,” he added.
Musienko stressed that Western experts and diplomats understood exactly what we needed, because the standard weapon for a counteroffensive is:
- land component – tanks and armored vehicles,
- artillery support to destroy the rear and depots of the enemy,
- air support, that is, aircraft.
According to him, coherence is important here, the joint work of all these units in order to be effective. “And it's not too early for us to ask for tanks and aircraft,” the expert believes.
Our Minister of Defense once said that Rammstein provides us with weapons for specific missions – artillery was needed for defense, HIMARS were needed for an offensive in the South, and they gave it. And now we have an ambitious task – a counter-offensive and de-occupation of all of Ukraine, so we need additional weapons,” Musienko explained.
