Ukraine will be invited to NATO within the 1991 borders, – Stefanishyna Diana Kvasnevskaya

Stefanishina spoke about joining NATO/Ministry of Justice

Olga Stefanishina spoke about at which borders Ukraine will be invited to NATO. In particular, she explained whether they had discussed joining the Alliance without the temporarily occupied territories.

Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna stated on the telethon that Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance without the temporarily occupied territories had not been discussed.

What Stefanishyna says about joining NATO

There were no such conversations. Ukraine will definitely be invited to NATO within the 1991 borders and this is not being discussed. This is not a subject of discussion, Stefanishyna said.

She also explained that Ukraine will be able to join NATO only after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war, but the situation may change during the invitation to the bloc.

“After the invitation, a protocol on accession is drawn up, which notes both the deadlines and the reforms that need to be done. These are not terrible reforms. But that will come later. Now it's an invitation. And it is not discussed at all, either by progress on the front or by territories,” the minister assured.

Earlier, the Ukrainian defense minister said that he had not heard any proposals to exchange the occupied territories for Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that the partners had never openly talked about exchanging territories for world.
