Germany and France will never act as Ukraine's negotiators to resolve the war with Russia. The President of Ukraine will conduct negotiations with Russia.

Macron noted the mediation of France and Germany

A corresponding statement in Kyiv at a briefing of the leaders of Ukraine, Germany, Italy and Romania was made by French President Emmanuel Macron, Channel 24 reports.

The French leader said that Ukraine would determine the terms and format of negotiations with Russia. He also noted that France and Germany will not act as negotiators for Ukraine

Neither Germany nor France will ever act as negotiators for Ukraine. And they will never demand any concessions from Ukraine. This has never happened and never has happened,โ€ Macron said.

However, it should be recalled that in May, Macron, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, offered Ukraine to make territorial concessions. Macron also urged not to humiliate Russia.

At the same time, during a visit to Kyiv, Macron noted that France and Germany are a “demanding mediator” to clarify the situation.

The French leader added that President Vladimir Zelensky would conduct negotiations with Russia.

Scholz supported Macron's statement

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also supported Macron's position. He assured that Western leaders can negotiate the world in which Ukrainians see it.

Russia must understand that it has no right to achieve what it wants,โ€ Scholz said.

The German Chancellor said that the demands that Moscow makes on Ukraine cannot be met. He added that Russia should withdraw its troops and agreed to peace talks.
