Ukraine returned the bodies of another 61 fallen defenders

The bodies of the soldiers who defended Ukraine are being returned home. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 888 dead defenders have been carried away.

This was announced on February 10 at the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories. They indicated that together with the Office of the Commissioner of the Missing and law enforcement agencies, the bodies of 61 defenders were returned to their relatives.

“The transfer of the bodies took place in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Convention and in compliance with international humanitarian law,” – they wrote in the department.

Ukraine returned the bodies of dead volunteers

Another large-scale exchange captives took place on 4 February. 116 defenders returned home.

Ukraine also carried away the bodies of dead British volunteers and a Ukrainian soldier from the French Legion. We are talking about Briton Christopher Matthew Perry, New Zealander Andrew Tobias Matthew Begshaw and Ukrainian Yevhen Kulik.

Begshaw arrived in Ukraine in March 2022. He delivered humanitarian aid and helped evacuate from hot spots. Perry and Begshaw are known to have gone missing on January 6th. The men were driving from Kramatorsk to Soledar. After that, there was no communication with them.
