In Ukraine they plan to clear the entire territory approximately 5-7 years after the end of a full-scale war. The government has already created the necessary infrastructure for humanitarian demining.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal stated this during a press conference in Kyiv. According to him, all government institutions are working on this large-scale problem.

— Now Ukraine is the leader in the number of mined lands. But I convince you that Ukraine will be a leader in humanitarian and general mine clearance, — Shmygal believes.

The Prime Minister cited estimates from scientists who believe that Ukraine needs tens or hundreds of years to clear mines using standard technologies. However, the government is committed to large-scale demining of agricultural lands within three years after the de-occupation of the territories.

According to the latest estimates, 190 thousand hectares of agricultural land have already been surveyed out of 470 thousand hectares that have been identified as priorities for mine clearance. The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that the complexity of mining the territories of Ukraine is increasing daily.
