Ukraine needs long-range missiles: is there a chance to get them in the near future

A new Ramstein meeting will take place on January 20th. However, one should not expect that they will definitely decide on the transfer of long-range missiles to Ukraine.

Instead, this “Ramstein” will be dedicated to strengthening Ukraine with various types of armored vehicles. Alexander Musienko, head of the Center for Military Legal Research, told Channel 24 about this.

What to expect from Rammstein

We are talking primarily about armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers. In addition, our partners will consider strengthening Ukraine with artillery and air defense systems, because Russian missile terror against civilians and objects does not stop.

The aggressor country continues to act in the most cruel and aggressive ways. The terrible tragedy in the Dnieper on January 14 is evidence of this. Therefore, our state urgently needs air defense systems and there is some progress in relation to the Patriot air defense system.

An important point – we are waiting for a decision from France and Italy regarding the SAMP/T systems, which they may announce during the meeting on January 20, the military observer suggested.

Suitable systems are similar to Patriot and are capable of shooting down ballistic missiles . SAMP/T would become an additional strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense.

Probably, these components (armored vehicles and air defense systems – Channel 24) will be emphasized, but it cannot be ruled out that the transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine will be discussed in advance, Musienko noted.

He added that in this case, the United The states can make an independent decision and missiles will appear in one of the subsequent assistance packages for our state.

In his opinion, a flexible form will be found in which Ukraine will strike at military targets of the invaders. We are talking primarily about the occupied territories of Ukraine.

These missiles are important because they allow the Ukrainian military to counter a possible offensive by the Russian invaders, destroying warehouses deep behind enemy lines, basing points for his manpower and accumulations of military equipment.

“We have seen how it works on the example of the Kherson region, and when we get the appropriate missiles, it will work at longer distances. This is important and there is an understanding of our partners in this sense,” the military observer summed up.
