Russian strike on the Dnieper and Odessa region
On the night of April 19, Russia carried out a massive attack on the Dnepropetrovsk region and the Dnieper.
As a result of the attack on the Dnieper, a five-story building was partially destroyed and caught fire; emergency search work is still ongoing at the site.
In the city, five more high-rise buildings, two private houses, three educational institutions, seven administrative and office buildings, a market, shops, shopping pavilions, a hotel, a service station, and almost fifty cars were also damaged.
The blow fell, in particular, on the region’s railway infrastructure. As reported in Ukrzaliznytsia, the Russian army carried out a targeted massive shelling of civilian infrastructure facilities of the national carrier in the Dnieper and the region.
According to the latest data, two people were killed and another 24 people were injured in the Dnieper.
The terrorist state also attacked Krivoy Rog, Sinelnikovo and Pavlograd in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
In general, including the Russian attack on the Dnieper, in the Dnepropetrovsk region due to the shelling on April 19, seven people were killed and 35 were injured.

Explosions were also heard in the Odessa region, where Russia launched missiles to attack the seaport of Yuzhny.
According to the head of the Odessa Police Department Oleg Kiper, there is damage to the port infrastructure, and one injured man is also known — he is hospitalized with a shrapnel wound.
Subsequently, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Russian troops attacked the Yuzhny seaport. Enemy missiles hit port facilities.
Progress with support for Ukraine in the US Congress
A procedural vote was held in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress to begin consideration of foreign funding packages, which, in particular, envisage more than $60 billion in support for Ukraine.
In parallel with this, there are certain difficulties in the House, since some Republican congressmen are planning in one way or another to interfere with the vote on the issue of support for Ukraine: parliamentarians may make additional amendments to delay the process of considering assistance, or try to remove Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson from his post.

Council meeting Ukraine — NATO
April 19, an urgent meeting of the Council of Ukraine — NATO, which discussed issues of further support for Ukraine.
President Vladimir Zelensky also took part in the event, who called on partners to provide Ukraine with 7 air defense systems as soon as possible. He also noted the need to supply Ukrainian artillerymen with appropriate shells that need to be delivered to the front line.
The president also did not ignore the topic of aviation, as well as long-range missiles.
Subsequently, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who spoke after the Council meeting, said that the participants of the event agreed to increase military assistance to Ukraine, in particular, and to provide additional air defense systems.
Stoltenberg also called on the leaders of the Alliance member countries to check their reserves and find as many weapons as possible for the Ukrainian defenders.
Destruction of Tu-22M3
The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed the Russian Tu-22MZ strategic bomber, which fired missiles at the Ukrainian state on the night of April 19.
In addition to the aircraft, it was possible to destroy two more Kh-22 cruise missiles, said Nikolai Oleshchuk, commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At the same time, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense says that the destruction of the bomber was their joint operation with the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Intelligence officers say that the Tu-22MZ was shot down at a distance of about 300 km from the Ukrainian border. The bomber was able to fly to the Stavropol area, where it subsequently fell and crashed.
According to information from GUR representative Andrey Yusov, the second Tu-22MZ plane was flying behind, but was forced to turn around.
Parade of resignations in the government
A number of people's deputies announced resignations in the government of Ukraine and other government institutions. It is expected that personnel changes will begin next week and will affect the Cabinet of Ministers, the Accounts Chamber and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
As Yaroslav Zheleznyak, people's deputy from the Golos party, said, within the next week there may be a “parade of resignations at their own request”.
He noted that the changes will likely affect the Ukrainian government. In particular, three or four ministers may resign, two of whom hold the positions of deputy prime ministers.
At the same time, people’s deputy from the European Solidarity faction Alexei Goncharenko decided to clarify his colleague’s information and named names.
According to Goncharenko, the following may resign:
- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk;
- Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov;
- Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovoi.
In addition, according to Goncharenko, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine may be disbanded.
Zelensky in the Donetsk region and in the Dnieper
Within 24 hours, President Vladimir Zelensky arrived on an unannounced visit to the Donetsk region, and then to Dnieper.
In the Donetsk region, the president inspected the construction of fortifications and visited wounded Ukrainian soldiers. He also held a meeting on the security situation in the region and the protection of people.
Subsequently, Zelensky visited the Dnieper, disfigured by Russian strikes, where, together with the head of the Regional State Administration, he held a meeting on the “situation in the region, the protection of the Dnieper, all cities and communities of the region”. He was also given reports on critical infrastructure facilities, construction of protective structures, restoration and modernization of energy facilities.
