Ukraine is preparing to sign an updated free trade agreement with Canada. On Friday, September 8, the government agreed on the corresponding draft presidential order.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal announced this.
— This is a modern, progressive agreement that is important for increasing investment, boosting trade in services and developing digital trade. In trade in services, for the first time we have an agreement on the principle of “open everything that is not specified in the agreement” — this is especially important in the flexible world of services, where new services are constantly emerging, especially digital ones, — Shmygal said during a government meeting.
According to the Prime Minister, the agreement clearly defines that Ukraine shares with Canada approaches to standards in the field of labor, the environment, the role of small and medium-sized businesses in trade and the economy as a whole.

Shmygal added another important element of the agreement — cross-cumulation of goods.
— The agreement provides that the free trade regime applies to goods that also contain components from the EU, Great Britain and Israel, with which we also have joint agreements. This will strengthen the integration of Ukrainian manufacturers into global supply chains, — noted the Prime Minister.
