Ukraine is preparing developments for 2024 that will help force Russians to leave the temporarily occupied Crimea forever.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov spoke about this on the air of the One News telethon, commenting on his recent visit to the USA.
The head of the Ministry of Defense was asked whether it was discussed in Washington how to “clean” The Black Sea from the Russian presence, and technologies that would help fight Kalibr missile carriers (in addition to Ukrainian naval drones, which have already shown good results).

“We showed the whole world that we can achieve success.” Despite the fact that we do not have such a powerful fleet, we forced Russia to withdraw from the temporarily occupied Crimea. The developments that we are preparing for 2024 will give us very good opportunities for them to leave our Crimea forever,” Umerov emphasized in response, without voicing details.
Results of the trip to Washington
As you know, the Ukrainian-American conference of defense industries took place in Washington December 5-6. And a memorandum was signed between Ukraine and the United States on joint defense production and exchange of technical data.
As Umerov explained, the United States “is accelerating its move towards launching joint production of weapons and military equipment with American companies”.
– Focus was on air defense and ammunition, repair, restoration and joint ventures… Short-term plans for 2024 have already been signed with two companies. This includes artillery, air defense, and other areas,” the minister specified.
He added that there are “no limits” for technology transfer, work “with different platforms, systems and weapons”.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is ready to both sign medium- and long-term contracts for direct purchases of weapons (for 5 – 10 years), and, together with American companies, make investments in their production.
