Ukraine is trying its best to make the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency safe. In particular, despite the regular shelling of the Russians.

Relevant information was told to Channel 24 by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko. Also, as of 13.46 on August 31, he confirmed that the specialists were on their way to the station.

Ukraine is doing everything for the safety of the IAEA mission

This is an important mission and we are doing everything we can to make it safe and efficient. The Russian occupying troops must stop shelling the corridors of the IAEA delegation and not interfere with its activities at the station,” Nikolenko explained.

He also added that IAEA experts should record a violation of nuclear and radiation safety standards and norms at the Russian occupation. “The position of Ukraine remains unchanged: the nuclear power plant must be immediately demilitarized, de-occupied and transferred under the full control of the Ukrainian government,” the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said once again.

He also called on the international community to increase pressure on Russia, up to:

  • complete demilitarization and de-occupation of the nuclear power plant;
  • as well as its return to Ukrainian control.
