Ukraine has initiated the process of introducing the so-called “elections”, which the invaders want to hold in the temporarily occupied territories, into a resolution of the UN General Assembly.
About this during the press marathon was stated by the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.
He noted that Russian pseudo-elections under occupation contradict Ukrainian and international legislation, including the UN Charter, because this is territory Ukraine, where Ukrainian laws are in force.

According to him, the topic of pseudo-elections has been going on since 2014, and Ukraine has already worked out an international mechanism for responding to such actions by Russia. In particular, “elections” were reflected in resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which noted their illegality.
— Also this time, Ukraine initiates the inclusion of the fact of holding illegal elections in the occupied territories in official UN documents — I mean the resolutions that are adopted at the end of the year on the situation in Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories, — added the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nikolenko noted that Ukraine expects members of the UN Security Council to condemn the holding of such “elections”, as well as to discuss solutions that will stop such actions by Russia.
