Ukraine wants a second Peace Summit, which could take place later this year, to pave the way for an end to hostilities.
This was stated by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, Bloomberg reports.
Why a second Peace Summit is needed
— The most important expectation from the second summit — is the formation of the basic prerequisites for an end to hostilities. We need to end this war as soon as possible in order to achieve a just peace, — the head of the President's Office emphasized.
Andriy Yermak said the gathering would take place in a country in the so-called Global South, likely in the Middle East, to demonstrate common unity amid Russia's attempts to divide the world.

Despite Ukraine's efforts to focus on topics that could achieve broader consensus, such as nuclear safety and the return of children abducted by Russia, the Peace Summit failed to secure support from key countries. Among them are — China, India, Brazil and South Africa.
It is extremely important for Ukraine to ensure China's participation next time, because this country is a major player that is truly capable of influencing the Russian Federation, the head of the President's Office noted.
Recently, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during a visit to Beijing last month that the time had not yet come for peace talks to end the war with Russia.
President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that holding a referendum on territorial concessions to Russia in exchange for peace is possible only if the Ukrainian people want it.
