Ukraine has information about the conditions of detention of the Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol, who were evacuated to the occupied territories. However, the Ukrainian authorities cannot announce details.
Ukrainian authorities cannot provide details for two reasons
Anna Malyar, Deputy Minister of Defense, answered the question on the air of the Rada channel about the conditions under which Ukrainian soldiers are being held from Mariupol, Channel 24 reports.
Malyar said that Ukraine has information about the defenders from ” Azovstal”, but it is secret. According to Deputy Oleksiy Reznikov, the Ukrainian authorities cannot provide details for two reasons.
First, the announcement of details may negatively affect the negotiation process with the Russians. The second reason is related to the safety of Ukrainian defenders and defenders who were taken out of Mariupol.
We have all the information, but now it is secret and this is connected not only with the negotiation process itself, but also with the safety of these people. This is personal data,” Malyar said.
What is known about the evacuation from Azovstal
Ukrainian defenders in Mariupol held back the Russian armed forces for more than two months, which prevailed several times. For a long time, our soldiers, along with civilians, were at the Azovstal metallurgical plant.
Russian infidels cynically shelled the plant, dropping heavy bombs. In early May, the Ukrainian authorities managed to agree on the evacuation of civilians who were taken to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

But many Ukrainian defenders remained at the plant, including the wounded and the dead. On May 16, the evacuation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers began from Azovstal. The defenders of Mariupol were ordered to stop the defense and save their lives.
British intelligence reported that about 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers came out of Azovstal. The Ukrainians were taken to the occupied territories, after which they were supposed to be exchanged for Russian prisoners.
Recently, the commander of the Azov regiment, Denis Prokopenko, called his wife from Russian captivity. He said that they are kept in more or less satisfactory conditions.
