The war between Russia and Ukraine mobilized the defense complex of our state. Moreover, our military has already created a unique air defense system. Note that there is no such thing in the world.
This was emphasized by the speaker of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat. At the same time, he noted that in order to strengthen air defense in Ukraine, modern systems are also needed, which will be provided by international partners.
Tactics are the secret
An optimal and realistic option is already organized. We have actually created a unique air defense system, which is not found anywhere else in the world,” Ignat emphasized.
He noted that the sky over Ukraine is protected with the help of Soviet means. But this is combined with a variety of tactics, allowing you to effectively deal with hostile attacks.
In addition, a warning system has been developed in Ukraine. Also, air defense systems, fighters and MANPADS are working to counter missile strikes. The latter, Ignat noted, are placed throughout our country. They are led by the military, who are trying to intercept missiles fired by the enemy. And our military also has visual observation posts.
We still need weapons from partners
Despite the titanic efforts of the Ukrainian military, there is still not enough equipment in our state. First of all, he noted that our air defense system needs to be strengthened. And this can be done thanks to modern means provided by international partners.
We are talking about NASAMS and IRIS-T. At the same time, Ignat stressed, it should be understood that the number of these installations provided to Ukraine will be small. But it will be one more step to protect our skies from the enemy.
The speaker added that IRIS-T is still a new complex. Instead, quite a few countries are already using NASAMS for protection. And since our military already has solutions from Norway and the United States in their arsenal (actually these NASAMS), other states will soon be able to provide air defense to Ukraine.
Recall that the day before, the United States allocated another package of military assistance to Ukraine. It will include:
- additional ammunition for HIMARS high mobility rocket and artillery systems;
- four 105mm howitzers and 36,000 105mm artillery shells;
- Additional HARM high-speed anti-radar missiles;
- 100 HMMWV armored highly mobile multi-purpose wheeled vehicles;
- 1.5 million small arms rounds;
- more than 5,000 anti-tank systems;
- one thousand 155 mm RAAM remote anti-armor mines;
- additional grenade launchers and small arms;
- 50 infantry fighting vehicles;
- night vision devices and other field equipment.
