Russia's use of North Korean ballistic missiles in attacks on Ukraine gives the DPRK a rare chance to test weapons in real conditions.
This was stated by the commander of the US Pacific Army, General Charles Flynn, during a visit to the American military base Camp Humphreys in South Korea.
How North Korea is using the Russian war against Ukraine
— I don't remember the North Korean military having a combat laboratory like the one the Russians provided them with in Ukraine, — he said.
They are watching now
Flynn noted that his and other military's biggest concern is that North Korea will be able to learn things about its weapons that it would not have access to in the absence of conflict.
The USA, South Korea and other countries accused the DPRK of sending to Russia the latest ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons, with a range of action from 380 km to 800 km.
In March, the Kharkov Regional Prosecutor's Office said that Russian troops fired about 50 North Korean-made missiles into Ukraine, in particular similar to the Hwasong 11 (KN-23/24), which are similar to the Russian Iskander-M missiles.
These missiles are of poor quality, but Flynn fears that with information obtained from Ukraine, North Korea will be able to improve their weapons.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Defense, North Korea has sent about 7 thousand containers with ammunition and other military equipment to Russia since last year.
