For the last five months, Ukraine has not been selling its grain to the Polish market; Ukrainian grain only travels through Poland in transit.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal announced this on Friday, February 23.

The Polish delegation did not show up for the meeting.

– In the last five months, Ukraine has not been selling its grain to the Polish market. Zero. Nothing. Ukraine does not sell its corn, sunflower seeds and rapeseed to the Polish market. On September 16 last year, our government decided to license the export of some agricultural products,” he said.

Shmygal noted that without permission from Poland it is now impossible to export grain, corn, rapeseed and sunflower to the Polish market.

– Currently there are no such permissions — and, accordingly, there is no export either. We want both Polish farmers and Polish society to hear this. “Ukrainian grain does not go to the Polish market,” he added.

Ukrainian grain is in transit

The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukrainian grain travels through Poland only in transit. The head of government noted that today only 5% of Ukrainian agricultural exports pass through the Polish border, while the main route — this is a grain corridor through the Black Sea.

– The blockade affects the entire Polish-Ukrainian trade, the economy of our countries. Not only Ukraine loses from it, Polish entrepreneurs, who export $12 billion worth of goods to our market annually, lose from it. This is the truth we must convey to our people and yours. Poles and Polish farmers must hear this truth in order to understand the pointlessness of the border blockade,” Shmygal emphasized.

Recall that today on the border of Ukraine and Poland, unknown persons again damaged wagons with Ukrainian agricultural products, this time with rapeseed.
