On October 12, Brussels hosted the sixth meeting of NATO defense ministers in the Ramstein format. During the meeting, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stressed that Ukraine is already a de facto member of NATO.

He added that the Ukrainian army has proved that it is absolutely modern and effectively conducts maneuver-defense tactics, effectively counterattacks and uses all high-tech weapons, including satellite guidance systems.
“So it seems to me that for It is extremely positive for Europe to have Ukraine as a member of NATO , this will increase the level of security in Europe and the combat effectiveness of the Alliance. And our partners understand this,” the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office noted.
Why NATO does not directly talk about Ukraine's membership
Podolyak believes that the fact that Ukraine will be accepted into NATO is not even discussed.According to him, a short period will expire and we will join the Alliance, it remains only to agree on certain bureaucratic issues.
Just partners are accustomed to certain rules. It is Russia that can break everything and say that she wants to do this. And partners want to abide by these rules. Therefore, we understand why they do not say directly that Ukraine will be a member of NATO. – said the adviser to the head of the OP.
Will the rules for Ukraine change
According to Podolyak, recently an article was published by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in which he took some responsibility for what European leaders did not do before the start of the war.
Borrell says the rules need to be changed. Therefore, I believe that the rule on joining NATO for Ukraine will also change. After all, Ukraine proves that we have the right to go through this process a little faster, paying a fantastic price for it,” the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office emphasized.
He added that Ukraine is moving towards victory thanks to the help of partners. However, Ukrainians are ready to pay for everything and do everything themselves to defend their independence.

Ukraine on the way to NATO membership: the main thing
